St. Mark’s Northwest

Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:23b

Education

Children/Youth
We have Sunday School for all children and youth at 10:15 a.m. We currently do not have classes for senior high. Our goal is to provide sound Christian education for our children and youth so that they may know the stories of the Bible, apply these lessons in their daily life, grow in faith and serve God and others. Our Sunday School has a fun atmosphere where kids want to come back! Come check us out!

Adult Sunday School
Adult opportunities for Sunday School also take place in the 10:15 hour. The class explores different books of the Bible, topics of relevancy, and practical application of biblical truths to our experience here and now. This fall, the class will read and discuss “Experiencing God”. You are welcome to join us!

Small Groups

Disciple Bible Study
Have you ever wanted to read the Bible? Join Rev. Earl Higgins on Tuesday nights as we becoming disciples through Bible study. This is a 32-Week study of the whole Bible, requiring daily reading of large portions of scripture and features group discussion each week based on careful preparation. The class draws on the work of scholars to aid the group’s understanding of the Bible and calls on persons to submit themselves to examination by God’s Word, to put themselves under the power of God’s Word, and to be changed by God’s Word! We will meet at the Church office beginning September 16. Class runs from 7-9:00 p.m. Child care is not provided. The cost is $30 for the study manual. Friends are always welcome! Everyone is free to join us for the first orientation session to see if Disciple is right for you!

Financial Peace University
Dave Ramsey’s FPU is a 13 week program designed to change our financial lives by changing our behaviors. We will meet on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. at the church office. The class starts September 18, 2008 and ends December 18. The cost is $100, which covers a material kit sent by Dave Ramsey. Topics include Saving, how to budget, marriage/single issues with money, bargains, DEBT, investments, insurance, retirement/college, real estate and more! The first class is an orientation, so you are welcome to come and see if this class is for you!

Confirmation
For the first time at St. Mark’s Northwest, the opportunity is here for youth Grade 6 and above to participate in a Confirmation Class in preparation for full church membership! Our classes will be held on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m., beginning September 10, 2008 and continuing until Confirmation Sunday, March 1, 2009. The class will also help at the Ash Wednesday Service on February 25, 2009. Our first class on September 10 will be an orientation to the Confirmation process and we invite parents to join us for that evening. A full class syllabus and expectations will be provided at the orientation.
